HAYDEN - LETTERPRESS FIXER & FOOT TREADLING EXTRAORDINAIRE

Hayden never imagined that when Alischa told him she wanted to find such old vintage letterpress machines, that he would end up loving them too. Haydens background is in Aviation, and when he isn't printing away in the studio he is up in the air flying here and there around the countryside.

Being the chief pressman, he looks after the maintenance of our presses, ensures they are well oiled and in perfect working condition. Being such old machines they require alot of love and attention.

What five things do you love the most about letterpress?

1. Watching Alischa create a symphony of colour. She mixes what seem to be random colours together to make a colour that then changes when printed.

2. Impression, the best part of letterpress printing is caressing the mountains and valleys of the impression caused by the action of the press.

3. The completed product - wedding invitations, stationery, prints and paperie - being boxed and ready to go. They look great, they are unique, visually and tactilely attractive.

4. I love that a mechanical machine that is so old is able to used for something that is timelessly beautiful. A machine built before airplanes and cars. It astounds me that it can create such an elegant and classic result.

5. The boutique nature of the wedding invitations we create here at Bespoke Letterpress Boutique, they are so uniquly different.
